South Asian Heritage Month 2024

Careif Trustee Dr Valsraj has shared some thoughts, as well as a couple of videos, for this year’s South Asian Heritage Month.

South Asian Heritage Month has a special significance in mental health as cultural awareness and sensitivity is key in mental health. The South Asian culture is diverse and it is essential to understand, respect and appreciate the differences and the theme for 2024 'Free to be me' captures this so well.

We at Careif and Ethic Inclusion Foundation are proud to have jointly published the report Improving the Mental Health of South Asian Population in the United Kingdom. This report offers recommendations and highlights some of the unique aspects from a cultural perspective.

We are progressing with our report on the health of Indo Caribbean population which is due for publication soon.
