Careif supports Manifesto for a Mentally Healthier Nation

Careif has joined over 60 organisations in supporting the Centre for Mental Health’s Manifesto for a Mentally Heathier Nation. The manifesto calls on all political parties to commit to a ten-year, cross-government plan for mental health.

The manifesto calls on a plan that encompasses three areas: prevention, equality and support so that the causes of mental ill health are addressed as well as the symptoms.

Careif Trustee Dr Jed Boardman commented on the manifesto:

”Mental health and ill-health are the embodiment of the success and failures of society as a whole. But the mental health of the UK and public services have deteriorated in recent years at the same time as poverty has deepened and health and social inequalities have become entrenched.

“Careif works to enhance, preserve and protect good mental health and recognises the imperative to reverse these harmful trends. This is why we are supporting the Manifesto for a Mentally Healthier Nation.”
